Can acupuncture help with weight loss?

Absolutely, acupuncture can help with weight loss by sedating the stomach, increasing your will power and decreasing your anxiety. Just about now you are asking yourself, how did I gain those few extra pounds over the holidays even though I watched every morsel of Christmas goodies and cheer that went past my lips? It isn’t unusual to gain weight when we are relaxed and on holidays while enjoying friends and family. Like most cultures our celebrations are often anchored around food and drink. Unfortunately the truth of the matter is that we have those extra pounds now and what do we do about them?

Here are a few holistic tips to rid you of those extra pounds and increase your health? Stop all alcohol, along with the calories it contains. Alcohol drops your blood sugar and increases your appetite. Keep a food diary for three days which brings awareness to your eating patterns. Consume a glass of water before meals which will decrease hunger and satisfy you appetite. Whenever possible, add lemon to your water which cleans your internal organs and helps them work more efficiently. Eat raw food often; it takes more calories to digest them. Evidence has also shown that if you eat in front of the TV, you are in a dream state and you consume more food. It may be a better idea to exercise in front of the TV.

To help you reach your weight goal in a healthy manner, the team at the Clinic on Jane is holding information sessions on Monday nights. The fee is a donation to the North Bay Food Bank. You will have an opportunity to hear speakers and get great information on how to lose the weight you want in a healthy and supportive environment.
